HEBREW VOWELS (NIKUD)

Let’s Learn the Hebrew Vowels (Nikud)

In the Hebrew languagea language that technically does not actually use vowelsone may wonder whether it is even necessary to have a web page entitled “Hebrew Vowels”. And yet for many people who are learning Hebrew, those little dots are absolutely essential. Although Hebrew is often written (and understood) without them, those little markings are here to stay, so it is important to learn what they mean.

NIQQUD CHART
These markings, known as niqqud (or nikúd), indicate which vowel sound is to be vocalized after leaving one Hebrew letter before you pronounce the next one.
